I have been a fan of Carrie Hope Fletcher for a while now and for my Birthday, Tim bought me tickets to go and see the Addam's Family later on this year. So when her book came out I was definitely ordering me a signed copy! Plus it had sprayed purple edges, which I love! I'm such a sucker for a fancy book!
I love books set in different realms. I don't know why, I just do. They hold my attention in a way that the mundane world just can't. It's the magic and experience of another person's imagination that I love. This story reminds me of a book I read years ago called The Wish List by Eion Colfer. That was another book I couldn't put down.
On The Other Side is the first book I've read in mere days. I just couldn't put it down and it was so easy to read. It was pure escapism! When I'd finished it I had to remind myself that it was Carrie's first book! Her storytelling is so beautifully done that you can't help but fall in love with the characters. I experienced the high's and lows with the main character, Evie, as though they were my own and by the end of the book I was looking back on the story with Evie's point of view. This had the potential to be an incredibly sad story, but she rolled with the punches and made it her own and that's something I loved. In that way, this story has been very inspiring to me.
The magic that appears throughout the story is beautifully crafted. I can't wait to see what Carrie does next!
If you've read On The Other Side, let me know what you think!
Peace out! xxx
