Books: The Forever War by Joe Haldeman

This was recommended to me by a friend who loves Science Fiction. It isn't usually my cup of tea book-wise (I'm all for a good nerdy film or TV series!), but I've been trying to branch out in the genres that I read.

The basic outline of the story is very interesting. They go off to war in space, but due to relativity and time dilation every time they come back the Earth has moved on a few centuries. It was interesting to learn about the futuristic world Joe Haldeman had imagined. A little scary too! He tells the story really well and the ending is perfect. He has a very dark sense of humour.

It took me a while to read this, as I find I get bogged down in the explaining of the science behind the story. While I find it all interesting, I don't get as fully immersed in the world as I usually do when I'm reading.

Having said that, I don't want you to think that I didn't enjoy this book, because I did! If you enjoy reading Science Fiction, then I have no doubt that you'll enjoy this. It is very well written.

If you've read this book, let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Also let me know if you have any good book suggestions, I don't know what to read next!

Happy reading! xxx
